I had the golden opportunity to teach a watercolor workshop in Havana, Cuba in March 2015. My time there made me feel excited and inspired to capture the Cuban culture.
The Cuban people are full of such joy in spite of the large disparities in wealth that are visible everywhere that tourists are allowed to go. That's why I believe, deep in my heart, that the Cuban people are a testament to the indelible fortitude of the human spirit.
I hope that these paintings help you connect to the island and these wonderful people.
I've been fortunate to have traveled across Western Europe, making fabulous friends and cherished memories along the way. Join me for my next European Painting Trip listed under Workshops on the menu bar.
When abroad, I relish discovering the differences in language and customs of the people that I meet, as well as the common bonds that we all share as human beings. And wherever I go, I see these differences and commonalities breathlessly reflected in the landscapes all around me.
It's my hope that as you explore these pieces, you too are moved to appreciate the novelty of our differences and the boundless beauty of the ties that bind us together.
I have lived in the beautiful state of Georgia for most of my life. I love the beach and marshes along the coast, the changing foliage in the parks and mountains, the cooling lakes and streams and life in the gleaming cities both large and small. I feel a close connection to Georgia especially when I am photographing or painting the ever changing scenes around me.
I have many dear family members and friends that live up and down the East Coast. I treasure my time with them and the diverse landscape: from the rocky coast of Maine to the sandy beaches of Florida to the interior greenery along the Appalachian mountains with natural waterfalls.
Yet I also love the bright lights of many of the dazzling cities in this region. Do you have a favorite place that you want captured in paint? Contact me about doing a commission.
My love for travel continues, especially to the Western and Southwestern USA where I have led multiple workshops and been inspired to capture the breathtaking vistas. Do you have a favorite view that you want captured in paint? Contact me about doing a commission.
I feel the same joy and inspiration that Georgia O'Keeffe felt in Ghost Ranch and the surrounding areas in New Mexico. Interested in me setting up a workshop out West? Contact me to coordinate a painting trip for you and others.
This collection is made from my old shredded watercolor paintings that no longer met my current standards. Instead of trashing or burning them, I shredded them! It felt freeing to merge my past watercolors into something totally new.
I like the irregular shaped paper better. As the paper dries, cracks and imperfections emerge - which are all a part of me and my paintings - it morphs into a new creation with its bumps, cracks and worn edges. Join me at my next Studio Z Art Show or schedule a private viewing to see the latest in this series!
I love to capture special memories and places for you to showcase in your homes. From first houses, to weddings, to beloved pets, and universities - I have been blessed to create these special pieces for people all over the world.
